Winter Care Tips - by Ninan S.

Winter is almost here and everyone has to take care of his or her skin and body. The winter breeze makes your skin very dry and rough. To prevent your skin from getting cracked and flaky, you should protect your body from the cold. It is really important to know how to take care of your skin everyday in the winter as well as what you should be wearing. A healthy skin is soft and makes you happy. Wearing winter clothes also helps you feel warm and comfortable.

During winter, your skin needs to be moisturized at all times. After living in Canada for many years, I would like to share with you the following list of moisturizers and clothing that will help you get through this winter.

Lotions and balms to use during the winter:

  1. Use a lip balm from time to time so that your lips don’t get cracked.
  2. Apply body lotion after taking a shower.
  3. Soak your feet in warm salt water for five minutes and apply glycerin or petroleum jelly.
  4. Use hand lotion from time to time after washing your hands.
  5. Apply moisturizer day cream on your face.
  6. Use moisturizer night cream at night.
  7. Remove your makeup using makeup remover and wash your face with warm water before you go to sleep.
  8. When you wash your face, gently exfoliate.
  9. Drink lots of water because drinking more water helps your skin look healthy and protects from dryness.
  10. When you take a shower avoid using soap in the winter because soap makes skin dry and itchy. Instead of soap use body wash.

Clothing and accessories to wear during the winter:

  1. You should wear warm thick jackets or blazers and if you prefer to wear a coat then choose long coats.
  2. Wear long underwear under your pants.
  3. Use woolen gloves when you go outside and use leather gloves to drive.
  4. Use a wool hat to cover the head and ears.
  5. Use a scarf around the neck.
  6. Use high winter boots.
  7. Use the feather jacket when it snows.
  8. Use thick wool socks for your feet.
  9. If you have a cold then eat chicken soup.
  10. If you have a cough then eat two-pieces of ginger. Ginger helps reduce coughing.

As I mentioned above, the tips are very important for winter. You should take time to care for your skin and body. Keep your skin soft and warm this holiday season. I assure you my tips will be useful and you won’t regret my advice.
