White Chickpeas - by Neeru J.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. of dry Chickpeas, soaked overnight
  • 2 medium or 1 large Onion
  • 2 large Tomatoes
  • 1 piece of Ginger
  • 1 bulb of Garlic
  • 4-5 pieces of Green Chillies
  • 2 tbsps. of Chickpea Spice (Available in South Asian Stores)
  • Salt, Pepper, Red Chillies – as per taste

 

Cooking Directions:

  1. Soak the chickpeas overnight in sufficient water.
  2. Cook the lentils in a pressure cooker for 45 min. Save the extra water.
  3. Dice onions, tomatoes, green chillies,  ginger and garlic into small pieces.
  4. In a fry pan, sauté onions. Add ginger and garlic when onions start to caramelize.  
  5. Add tomatoes and stir until it becomes gravy. Add water if consistency is thick.
  6. Add salt, pepper, red chillies and chickpea spices.
  7. Add the gravy to the boiled chickpeas.
  8. Dish is ready to serve.  Enjoy!
